I picked this up out of curiosity, as one of the few D-Boy releases I hadn't heard - and was very surprised, in a wonderful way. Now whilst D-Boy is most associated with hardcore/gabber, through D-Boy Black Label, most of the releases on D-Boy Records have a typically Italian feel - uptempo Italodance, happy hardcore or hard trance. And this EP is produced by two guys who were also involved in some of D-Boy's early hardcore - and features the vocalist Sharon Rose Francis, most famous as the vocalist for Tiny Tot.

But instead "Good Vibrations" is a wonderful laid-back piece of breakbeat hardcore. If I had heard this blind I would have guessed it came out on a UK label in 1994, sampled from an old house tune maybe - a big uplifting piano, strong vocal and nicely chopped breaks. The B side is a bit of a wasted opportunity - the B1 is basically the A side with downtempo drums, and the B2 is just an edit. But since the A side is so great I don't really care!

Just seems a real shame that the label it's on means that most DJs who'd appreciate this will probably never discover it...
