Da Damn Phreak Noize Phunk - Electric Crate Digger

How to blend mesmerising acid loops with rich, funky grooves and sexy basslines. 'Dynamite Derby' is a quick fire lesson in the art. This cd is such a diversion from the pumping Hardfloor of old, that they should change their nationality, not just their name. 'Chemical Funk' could not be more appropriately titled. Masterful rocking groove, clever pitch bends and taseful beats.

'Blueberry View' is a dreamy, saxophone punctuated excursion into the time and space occupied by the likes of David Axelrod, with enough going on to remind you we have moved forward forty years.

Funky guitars never fail to stimulate the toes and rump. 'Grand Royal' is a beautifully crafted groove that borrows disco string stabs, acid house sentiment and funky beats.

'Lunch Corner' owes as much to pioneers such as Laurent Garnier as it does to Dorado or Acid Jazz. The lightness of touch is sublime.

'Dazzafact' is straight-up, downbeat Hip Hop, while 'Violin Madness' throws in bongos, spongy acid basslines, strange violin loops and slowly bulging acid distorions to creatye a wonderful, almost Chinese, space tripper.

Drifting on to the end of this laid back platter, through the lazy 'Peppermint Files' and the cool Jazz of 'Projective Pimpin', Electric Crate Digger should bring a smile to your face. Unless you haven't been paying attention.
