CDr sent by Sean of Andrew Jackson Jihad in 2005: The first 6 tracks are the recordings from Issue Problems. Track 7 is an unknown song labeled 'untitled' and not found on any other release (demo or studio). With the exception of track 12, the remaining tracks (8-11,13-14) are a handful of the recordings that would eventually end up on the band's digital collection of tracks 'Home Style recordings'. Track 12 is demo of No More Tears done solo by Sean and his acoustic guitar; it differs from the known demo version from 'Home Style recordings' in that it does NOT begin with Sean introducing it as "going to be on the Plea for Peace comp", and it doesn't have any of the gang vocals included on all other demo and studio versions. Most noticeably, in this version Sean messes up the beginning of the 2nd verse, but laughs it off, and continues on without missing a beat.
Lyrics to track 7:
Friends try not to let friends make shitty decisions
And friends try not to let friends date dangerous women
But I must not have tried hard enough because Joel he got his heart broken
And Justin is an alcoholic and Andrew is in jail again
Wrought with guilt and a never-ending strand of regret
Friends don’t let friends overdose on heroin
And a friend would gladly give all of his bone marrow-in
In times of cancer and in times of pain
Oh, in times when it just won’t not rain
And a friend would give his right arm just to keep a friend safe from harm
Yes, I wish I could say this was true, but it’s a lie and you know it too
I guess a friend isn’t really a friend, after all.
update: after discussing with Sean, he said that track 7 was one of the first songs they wrote. It was them trying to be 'really Mountain Goats-y", and "never really had a name...we just called it 'Friends'"
update: Sean Bonnette added cover art and wrote out a track-listing insert for this release.
